About the role

Zurich is currently looking for an IT Security Intern to support our IT Services and Information Security team out of our Schaumburg, IL office for the summer of 2025.

 

This intern will work under immediate supervision and perform requested tasks alongside professionals who perform these roles. Generally, this position is part of a summer program with an assigned mentor. 

 

The primary project(s) you will work on:
 

  • Monitor and help maintain Information Security by promoting and adhering to security policies
  • Coordinate the collection of metrics and prepare various reports for timely distribution (e.g., failed controls, asset compliance)
  • Assist with managing and reporting exceptions within the environment (e.g., antivirus, proxy / open client, policies)
  • Assist with risk assessment of solutions and 3rd parties (i.e.,3rd party software, etc.)
  • Assist with Identity Management efforts by assisting with review and cleanup activities
     

You will learn:
 

  • “Soft skills” in areas such as business communications, collaboration, career planning
  • Familiarity with OWASP Top Ten security risks to web apps
  • Opportunity to work for a global company, across multiple regions
  • Data protection and information security standards related to Governance, Risk, & Compliance
  • Exposure to internal systems such as OneTrust, ServiceNow, SharePoint and OneDrive
  • Increase skills in MS Outlook, Office, and Teams

  • Working with the Chief Information Security Officer, Business Information Security Officers, and Information Security Analysts to gain a better understanding of cyber security and how it impacts a Global organization.
     

Basic Qualifications:
 

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s program and will be enrolled in the fall of 2025
  • Two or more years of college coursework (should be a rising Junior or Senior) and no prior years of experience required in the Administrative area
  • Be legally eligible to work in the U.S indefinitely   
     

Preferred Qualifications:
 

  • Familiarity with risk assessment frameworks, such as NIST CSF, ISO 27k family, COBIT, etc.
  • Course work/interest in:
    • Security Awareness
    • Incident Response
    • Security policy and procedure development
    • Cybersecurity metrics
    • Disaster recovery
  • Problem solving skills in customer focused environment 
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills 
  • Intermediate Excel Skills (Vlookup/pivot tables etc.)
