We’re looking for driven, tech-savvy students ready to bridge the gap between classroom knowledge and hands-on experience. Here, you’ll be part of a dynamic team, developing software, automating processes, and exploring cutting-edge technologies—all while being mentored by industry pros. This position is generally a 3-month paid assignment (May-August), and may be shorter or longer based on business needs.
What You’ll Get to Do:
As an IT Security Intern, you’ll be part of a dynamic team. Your work won’t be about watching from the sidelines—you’ll be hands-on, making a real impact.
- Analyze computer networks for security purposes using a variety of network analysis and security monitoring tools.
- Develop and evaluates security tools.
- Educate users on security issues.
- Respond to and implements security/incident/firewall requests; develops awareness of well-known ports and associated vulnerabilities; analyzes log and network data collections; and develops an awareness of vendor security resources (patches).
- Monitor security logs and generates reports. Creates and maintains records on security incidents as necessary.
- Maintain network vulnerability and application scanning products. Maintains intrusion-prevention systems and other security-related products.
- Communicate with users, vendors, and other IT personnel on security-related issues.
- Assist staff with resolution to certain technical problems. Confer with other personnel in resolving problems involving procedural and technical matters.
- Research problems and recommend solutions. Provides resource estimates and progress reports; serves on committees to develop technical standards and direction; and meets with FCBT users and technical staff to determine information needs and requirements.
- Ensure that all work is accurate and in compliance with departmental or project quality standards.
- Participate in training and professional development sessions.
- Assist with vendor communications; research for networking projects; management of security monitoring systems; responses to requests for information; routine audits of firewall configuration entries; and interactions with law enforcement agencies.
- Excellent stakeholder service skills.

- Currently pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to juggle multiple projects and quickly adapt to changing priorities
