Annual Salary:

$115,000 - $120,000

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Engineer is responsible to oversee and manage the installation of the digital Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), and the audio (public announcement/PA) and visual systems (public information/PI) in order to maintain a secure and safe transportation system. This role develops processes, methods and techniques to transmit, store and manipulate information in electronic data equipment and digital computer systems.  The Engineer uses his/her advanced level of knowledge to test, diagnose and correct failures in the software and hardware digital computer systems.

 

  • Install, configure, maintain and manage networking devices, servers, storage and operating systems.
  • Evaluate and/or recommend procurement of network‐related devices, servers, storage systems, peripheral equipment, and software.
  • Investigate problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
  • Guide complex problems from identification to resolution across different departments, employees and/or systems.
  • Plan, implement and administer network security, including managing host/device security.
  • Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
  • Investigate, recommend and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network/systems availability.
  • Ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information being processed, stored, accessed or transmitted on the network.
  • Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference
  • Participates in audits of the company's information technology infrastructure by external organizations.
  • Contributes to the planning and execution of business continuity and backup, disaster recovery capabilities.
  • Provides technical expertise in researching, identifying, evaluating, recommending and/or developing information security systems, controls, methods, techniques and models.
  • Exhibits initiative and drive to complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining the company’s UC phone system and working closely with the phone service provider to keep the lines active.
  • Takes a leadership role while dealing with vendors and owns assigned responsibilities.
  • Able to prioritize based on criticality.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by management.
  • Pass all associated quizzes and tests such as Rule Book, Safety and other necessary trainings.
  • Maintain compliance with training requirements (e.g. in-house training, etc.)

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

 

  • Bachelor of Science in either Computer Science, Information Systems, Electronic Engineering or related field.
  •  
  • Knowledge of project management and maintenance planning.
  • Knowledge of Federal Information Technology standards, guidelines, requirements and programs such as NIST
  • Expert level of knowledge in UNIX,DOS, Windows Operating Systems, Computer Networking, Programming skills, digital recording and transmitting systems.
  • Strong written, verbal, listening and presentation skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language at a high level of proficiency while using the phone, in email communications and in-person.
  • Ability to works independently and on a team member.
  • Required to have a valid license in accordance with New York State Motor Vehicle Laws.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Master of Science in either Computer Science, Information Systems or Electronic Engineering or related field.
  • Two or more years of work experience that includes testing and commissioning of digital audio and visual communication recording systems.
  • UHF Radio communication experience,
  • Professional certifications such as A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, MCSA 2016 and VCP.
  • Knowledge of Systems monitoring and management in a high‐availability data center environment

 

 

  • Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language at a high leve
