Job Duties

Richard Bland College (RBC) of William and Mary is a two-year, residential, liberal arts transfer institution that focuses on preparing students for transfer to highly ranked colleges and universities. The College is a hidden gem located outside the Tri-Cities region—and its rural setting featuring 750+ acres of wetlands, bucolic forest, and the state’s oldest and largest pecan grove.

RBC is looking for a part-time IT Project Manager. The IT Project Manager will work directly with the Director of IT/Information Security Officer and the Procurement Officer to assist and support RBC with managing and tracking Cloud-based software solutions in compliance with Commonwealth information security and procurement requirements. The IT Project Manager is a problem-solver and multi-tasker who can conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines using analytical and problem-solving abilities and is capable of effectively prioritizing and executing tasks while simultaneously dealing with ambiguity and complexity.

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of project management principles.
• Proven track record of successfully managing projects from initiation to completion.
• Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience conforming to shifting priorities, demands and timelines.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Additional Considerations

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field or comparable experience.
• 3-5 years of experience in managing IT projects in a higher education or other educational environment.
• Project Management Professional certification.
• Demonstrated understanding of Commonwealth of Virginia procurement and IT security regulations, processes, and procedures.
