We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Communications to join our People Team and lead internal corporate communications at a mid-size dental insurance company. This role is critical in shaping a unified internal voice that drives employee engagement, promotes organizational alignment, and supports a strong, values-based culture. The ideal candidate brings a background in corporate communications within regulated industries, a passion for storytelling, and a proven ability to lead through change.
As the Director of Internal Communications, you will own the strategy and execution of communications that keep our employees informed, aligned, and inspired. Partnering with senior leadership and cross-functional teams, you will help create a transparent, connected, and values-driven workplace culture across departments and locations. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you’ll be a key driver of our internal engagement strategy and a trusted advisor on messaging for leaders across the organization.
What You’ll Do:

Build and lead a comprehensive internal communications strategy that aligns with company values and business goals.

Act as the internal communications lead across all messaging channels including intranet, newsletters, leadership messages, organizational announcements, and employee events like town halls.

Collaborate with executives and department heads to support strategic initiatives, change management, and company-wide campaigns.

Develop compelling content that supports operational clarity, reinforces company culture, and engages employees at every level.

Advise senior leaders on internal messaging and communications planning, including the development of presentations, talking points, and scripts.

Lead communication efforts during organizational changes, strategic rollouts, and employee benefit updates.

Monitor effectiveness of internal communication through metrics, feedback, and engagement data, continuously refining approach.

Ensure brand consistency by aligning internal messaging with external voice and company values.

Manage executive communications for internal forums, including speeches and video scripts.

Guide crisis communication strategy in collaboration with Legal, Compliance, and Executive Leadership.
What You Bring:
Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field (Master’s preferred).

8+ years of progressive experience in internal corporate communications, ideally in a regulated industry such as healthcare or insurance.

Proven track record in developing and delivering internal communication strategies in mid-size to large organizations.

Expert-level writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a sharp eye for tone, clarity, and audience needs.

Experience supporting executive leaders with strategic messaging and high-impact communications.

Strong project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives and deadlines.

Familiarity with internal communication tools, intranet platforms, and analytics to drive engagement.

High emotional intelligence and discretion; able to build trust and collaborate across all levels of the organization.
