Based in West Hartford CT, Triumph Systems, Electronics and Controls is a leading independent aerospace system supplier for the commercial and military helicopter and business jet markets and employs approximately 500 employees. The Company’s key products and services include electronic engine controls, fuel metering units, main fuel pumps and environmental control systems for both the OE and aftermarket/spares end markets.

Position

We have an exciting opportunity for an Intern, Thermal Systems Engineering to join our West Hartford, CT team. The ideal candidate will support activities related to the development and evaluation of compressors and vapor cycle thermal management systems. These activities include developing system-level requirements using analysis, test procedure and report generation, test equipment checkout and lab evaluations. The ideal candidate for this position should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, good writing ability, and must be self-motivated with good interpersonal and team skills.

Responsibilities

•Requirements and architecture analysis
•Data collection and processing
•Control stability tuning
•Test procedure automation support and process automation
•Thermal system test development, review, and execution
•Tool development to automate/expedite data and/or system analysis calculations
•System modeling program review and coding support
•Test troubleshooting analysis and solution development.

Qualifications

•Qualified candidates must be entering their Junior or Senior Year, pursuing an Advanced Technical Degree (B.S. or M.S and equivalent to either) in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Systems Engineering. 
•Understanding of thermodynamic cycles and control volume analysis.
•Experience with:
•Required: Microsoft Excel, and Word
•Nice to have: Labview and/or Matlab.
•Ability to work in a team environment collaborating with Engineers and Interns, or other relevant personnel.
