Position Summary
At SARC/ACL (Samsung Austin Research Center/Advance Compute lab), we care deeply about transforming lives with Samsung GPU technology. Our mission is to design and build great products in Mobile GPU. This upcoming summer we have an opportunity for a smart, creative-thinking, and hardworking student. As member of our GPU Hardware Design team, you will have the exciting and great opportunity to work in cutting edge GPU design.In this internship you will have the opportunity to work amongst the best GPU design engineers in the world. You will support the team with research & development projects, deliverables focusing on advanced Mobile GPU design, implementation, and validation. You will present your results to the SARC/ACL Leadership team and highlight the impact to the business. You will work on real challenges the team faces as well as upcoming products. You will be responsible for researching, developing, implementing, and testing of GPU in major areas of Architecture, Modeling, RTL Design & Verification, Physical Design & Implementation, Emulation, and Validation. General Duties include but are not limited to: architecture, power/performance study, design/verification/emulation study, specialty EDA tool development, etc.
Role and Responsibilities
This position is on the Custom Circuit Design team, where the intern will combine VLSI design knowledge and software programming skills to optimize the Power, Performance and Area of world-class mobile GPU IP at bleeding edge technology nodes.
Candidates should demonstrate keen interest and a solid coursework and/or prior experience in VLSI circuit design, physical design, algorithmic optimization and software engineering.
Successful internship candidates would meet most of the following requirements:
Coursework or experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in EE, CE or CS, including VLSI Circuits & Systems and Software Engineering.
Exposure to transistor-level circuit design, layout, and VLSI design concepts
Proficient with EDA tools, such as Cadence Virtuoso, Siemens Calibre.
Proficient in analyzing and visualizing large-scale (Terabytes) dataset in Python or C++.
Hands-on experience in at least one of the ML/DL frameworks, such as PyTorch.
Passionate in applying ML/DL to semiconductor data to create real-world impacts.
Internship Eligibility:
Ability to commit to a 6-month internship (May/June - December)
Must be able to relocate to Austin, TX. for the entire duration of internship
Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in EE, CS, CE, ECE, EECS or related field of study.

At Samsung – SARC/ACL, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The hourly pay range for this role is between $32.00/hr. to $59.20/hr. Your actual hourly pay will depend on variables that may include your education skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
