Job Details:

Purpose

The Interim Associate Director will provide leadership, oversight, and direct management of the NISOD staff and other professionals to provide budget-friendly, high-quality, and faculty-focused programs and resources for NISOD member colleges. This position is temporary and set to end 06/30/2025.

Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Oversee NISOD's project activities, ensuring alignment with objectives and timelines. Serve as primary liaison with the Leadership Team, advising on community college relations and communications. Inform all project decisions and activities from the perspective of community college needs and challenges. Facilitate the incorporation of project activities into the annual NISOD spring conference.
  • Outreach and Partnership Development: Proactively engage with community college Presidents and Institutional Advancement leaders to understand their strategic plans. Collaborate with the Leadership Team to present tailored solutions for securing NSF awards that support their advancement goals.
  • Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with community colleges' legal, HR, and other departments to clearly communicate the benefits and implications of project participation and build support for collaboration among institutional stakeholders.
  • Learning Cohort Management: Recruit and manage community colleges and individuals participating in learning cohorts. Collaborate intimately with the CC-CREATE development team to ensure seamless integration of the NISOD infrastructure.
  • Dissemination: Participate in dissemination efforts in Years 4-5 to broadly share project outcomes, best practices, and insights with the community college field.

Required Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate from an accredited institution.

  • Proven experience in community college leadership, project management, and partnership development.

  • Some knowledge of NSF funding and the community college landscape.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent leadership qualities, including the ability to motivate and earn the respect of other staff

  • Ability to handle complex initiatives requiring excellent problem-solving, project management, and decision-making

  • Excellent writing and oral communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills with proven accuracy and attention to detail

  • Proficient with MS Office and ability to learn applicable technologies, including mainframe computer application

  • Demonstrated ability to employ tact, diplomacy, discretion, and sensitivity when dealing with confidential matters

  • Able to travel occasionally as required

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Association Executive (CAE) and/or extensive knowledge of membership associations

  • Proven experience as an events planner or organizer

  • Extensive knowledge of community and technical colleges

  • Extensive meeting planning experience

  • Extensive experience proofreading professional publications

  • Proficient with FileMaker Pro or similar relational database

  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite

  • Familiarity with HTML

Salary Range

$90,000+ depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed in an office setting

  • May require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
