Position Summary:

This position supports the design and development of projects related to online courses. The incumbent is also responsible for designing and developing professional development opportunities beyond course development for instructors, making revisions to instructional content, facilitating instruction courses and workshops, as well as providing just-in-time solutions for course delivery. This work is performed in consultation with departments and individuals by acquiring, maintaining, and sharing expertise in evolving technical and educational best practices and by developing practical, scalable, and timely solutions to course- and program-based challenges in the effective delivery of online instruction. The position reports to the Dean of the Center for Teaching and Learning.

Essential Functions:

• Works with course subject matter experts (instructors) to develop courses, course
components (i.e. videos, active asynchronous learning materials) or make revisions to
current content
• Acts as a subject matter expert in design of instructional modules, including performing
research on instructional design or online teaching/learning
• Provides technical Canvas support for faculty
• Develops and facilitates instructional courses and professional development workshops
• Performs course quality checks and course reviews for Department Chairs
• Develops and manages relationships with faculty and administration to implement
improvements to courses and processes
• Works on a collaborative basis as part of a team with other internal departments
• Performs other duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Technology, or a related field
• Experience with online learning, either as a student or as an instructor
• 1-2 years of instructional design experience
• Detail-oriented
• Strong organizational skills
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Strong presentation skills, both online and face-to-face
• Effective collaboration and partnering skills
• Experience with courseware in Canvas, Blackboard, or a similar platform in an academic
setting
• Exceptional technology and computer skills, especially in the use of Microsoft Office
