SUMMARY:

The inspector tests and inspects products at various stages of the production process and compiles data to determine and maintain the quality and reliability of products by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.
• Selects products for tests at specified stages in the production process, and tests products for a variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance, and mechanical characteristics. Checks dimensions for close tolerances, accurate dimensions and specified finishes.  Uses various types of precision measuring instruments FROM 1.0000” to 40.0000”.
• Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
• Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
• Sets up and performs nondestructive tests on materials, parts, or products.
• Follows all inspection standards and procedures
• Advises and assists operators where necessary.
• Work with the supervisor to set up dimension allowances and pass parts with minor tolerance deviations.
• Responsible for filling out and filing various inspection reports as required and forwarding some reports to various offices. 
• Perform other inspection practices as required.
• Perform and/or coordinate gages and/or measuring device calibration.
• Operate shop floor and office CMM’s.

Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Five (5) years of experience in mechanical inspections
• Proficiency in the use of all mechanical inspection devices
• Proficiency in the setup and use of electronic inspection devices
• Proficiency in the setup and use of optical inspection equipment
• Familiar with Microsoft Office products
• Must be able to work second shift
