Nursing Professional Development Education Coordinator - Generalist

Inova Health System’s System Office is looking for a INPD (Inova Nursing Professional Development) Education Coordinator - Generalist to join our team. This role is full-time, M-F - 8a-4:30p.

Responsibilities: 

• Participates in the education provided to the Clinical Technician Academy and Primary Nurse Planner for Virginia Nurses Association (VNA) approved provider unit. 
• Designs curriculum for entry competence of nursing staff to clinical specialties and coordinates the resulting program.
• Develops strategies and tools to assess and verify the competence of the workforce in an efficient and effective manner with regard to resource utilization, quality improvement, and safe practice.
• Remains updated on current literature and trends in professional growth and education practices in acute care facilities.
• Recognizes and translates to peers and colleagues how political, organizational, social and economic forces impact role.
• Creates educational programs to maintain and improve staff competence while fostering a positive and continual learning environment. Ensures that educational programming is cost-effective, conveys core beliefs, and is linked to strategic initiatives.
• Collaborates with clinicians to ensure practice is evidence-based. Identifies, reviews and applies evidence to guidelines and standards for patient care within identified timelines.
• Works with teams to synthesize data about quality and safety measures which lead to needed improvements in standards of care by developing, revising, and implementing policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Demonstrates expert use of clinical information systems, collaborates with other departments to support integration in workflows/teaching, and provides clinical content expertise in systems problem solving.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Hours: Full-time, M-F - 8a-4:30p
• Location: Inova Professional Development Center
• Education: Master's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare, Education and/or other relevant field.
• Experience: Three years of progressive experience in Nursing/Clinical Specialty and in Nursing/Clinical Education/development and/or leadership and project management.
• Licensure/Certifications: Certification in Nursing Professional Development or Nursing Specialty or eligible for certification in nursing continuing education and staff development and/or clinical specialty and successfully earns same within one year of hire; licensed as Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
