Job Description
Purpose of your role:
The Infrastructure Engineer role is primarily accountable for managing the corporate networking and infrastructure across our global offices. This will require experience with Azure and AWS, as well as VMWare virtualised environments to help support our on-prem systems and migrate them into the cloud. The primary remit of this role will be to help drive our cloud migration work.
Reporting to the Head of Infrastructure & Operations, this role will work alongside the North America based Infrastructure Engineer to help lead project work and system improvements. From day one, this role will be heavily involved in our cloud strategy and in the longer term, will be one of the key owners of our corporate cloud environments globally.
The Infrastructure Engineer will take a lead role in designing our global Infrastructure roadmap and help drive major initiatives and solutions, particularly our ongoing work to migrate to the cloud.
As part of a global Operations team you will also take a lead role in the Incident, Problem and Fault management process for when things aren’t operating smoothly, and act as the escalation point for the Global Support Teams. They will also be responsible for delivering projects related to server infrastructures, networking and security, while working closely with the Head of Infrastructure & Operations on strategy and execution. They will also be an escalation point and mentor to the Service Desk team.
What you do:
- Provide technical leadership (mentoring and coaching) and 3rd level support for Windows/Linux Systems to the Service Desk team
- Fault/Event Management, Incident Management, Problem Resolution and Root Cause Analysis of IT Systems
- Take a lead role the company’s cloud migration stream to shift our global infrastructure into the cloud (Microsoft Azure)
- Refresh global firewalls with Meraki and network infrastructure
- Manage our Azure environments and help to lead the long term strategy and planning of corporate networks
- Design, delivery and management of Windows Systems, Windows based technology, and Linux based systems following best practise guidelines, across multiple international locations
- Work with stakeholders to gather business requirements for the implementation of these Systems and technology
- Migrate and decommission on-prem infrastructure and ensure all legacy systems are removed
- Help to manage our AWS and GCP environments where needed
- Identity areas of automation and migrate corporate server roles over to managed services in Microsoft Azure
- Prioritise security controls and identify areas of concern and action them
- Manage the patching process and ensure we are adhering to policy and Microsoft recommendations
- Work with the Head of Infrastructure & Operations on strategy and planning
- Upgrade global network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, WAP’s)
- Create and Maintain System Documentation
- Clearly be able to document expected project outcomes and deliver according to this
Qualifications
What you bring:
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- 4+ years experience in System Admin/Infrastructure roles
- Experience with Microsoft Azure and AWS
- Experience with the following systems:
- Cisco Firewalls & Switches
- Cisco Meraki Cloud Infrastructure (Firewalls/Switches/WAP’s)
- Extensive experience and knowledge of Microsoft Server Infrastructure and Services
- Microsoft Azure & AWS (base level experience with AWS is fine)
- Scripting and Automation
- Previous experience migrating infrastructure into the cloud (Azure)
- Poses a “Continuous Improvement” mindset and always be looking to make things better
- Strong Experience working in an IT operations environment (dealing with Escalations, Fault/Event Management, Incident Management, Problem Resolution and Root Cause Analysis)
- Knowledge and understanding of ITIL Framework & Service Delivery Life Cycle (ITIL 4 Certified preferable)
- Experience with network architecture deign and planning, and able to assist the Head of Infrastructure with strategic planning
