Information Technology Technician Intern (Summer 2024)

Interns will work with a designated mentor or team to gain a thorough understanding of the IT industry to include theory and practical application of obtained knowledge. The intern will benefit from mentoring, coaching and side-by-side work with knowledgeable and experienced experts in the field. The objective is real, hands-on work assignments related to intern’s major, providing them with skills vitally important in today’s business environment.

Those interested in employment following an internship will be considered based on current openings, performance during internship, and proximity to graduation.

Responsibilities:

• Setting up end business consumer desks with necessary PC hardware components
• Building, maintaining and deploying computers in a Microsoft Windows environment
• General business consumer system troubleshooting and assistance
• Providing application software installations and upgrades
• Completing service desk support requests and following up with business consumers’ to meet service objectives
• Organize IT supplies and equipment
• Provide professional, reliable, and prompt customer service at all times

Must-haves:

• Must be a Sophomore, Junior or Senior in college or technical school, with at least 6 months until graduation after end of internship
• Pursuing a degree in computer science, information technology, or other related field
• Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio
• Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
• Strong organization skills and work ethic; detail oriented

Preferred:

• Existing knowledge of core applications such as MS Office, O365, Windows 10/11, basic network configurations, Cyber Security
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Have a strong aptitude in the IT field
• Interest in computers and information technology
• Able to interact effectively with management and office personnel
• Willing and able to quickly learn new applications and technologies
• Possess excellent analytical and creative ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems
• Motivated self-starter and able to take guided direction
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Detail-oriented and ability to multitask successfully
• Exhibit strong customer service and communication skills
• Adjust well to new situations and rapidly changing priorities
• Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
