Job description - MAINTENANCE FOREPERSON -
GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY
The Maintenance Foreperson, reporting to the Technical Manager, will be responsible for leading the maintenance staff, as well as being hands on involved in performing repairs or maintenance as needed to ensure high quality, minimal downtime and safety standards are met. The Maintenance department maintains all equipment, building, tooling, and systems in the Bridgewater plant through in-house mechanics and contractors. Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, predictive/preventative maintenance practices supporting the achievement of the site's business goals and objectives.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Team-leading Duties
Support the day-to-day activities of the maintenance staff, ensuring all tasks are handled quickly, efficiently, and safely.
Responsible for short-term planning and keeping appropriate managers aware of decisions being made.
Complete all necessary reports and records related to the department as required.
Assist in the orientation, training, and mentoring of staff.
Attend meetings as required.
Maintain adequate supplies and equipment for the maintenance department.
Assist in management of spare parts inventory, 6S, and assessment to meet business goals.
Keep current with ongoing changes and new technology and adapt accordingly.
Update project information and maintain project files as required.
Coordinate and monitor contractor activities for projects.
Support department managers, project managers and consultants as required.
Update and maintain information in PDT-BW plant records’ systems and department databases.
Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
As needed to ensure quality workmanship and effectiveness; perform checks on mechanics work, daily logbook entries, and mechanics daily equipment walk around checks.
Preventative Maintenance (PM)
The Maintenance Foreperson will be expected to work weekends or evenings, as required, to assist in performing maintenance on equipment to avoid extended production downtime.
Work with preventative maintenance program to:
Schedule new weekly PM work orders and assign to mechanics.
Review completed PM’s and Do it Now (DIN’s) closing off and updating in software
Perform preventative maintenance work on equipment/facilities per PM work order plus any associated equipment manual instructions.
As needed review, update, add or edit PM work orders in software to improve effectiveness.
Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
Set priorities for preventative maintenance work orders, and other tasks or special repairs/ upgrades by coordinating with production schedules and other factors (i.e., contractors’ availability, vacations, etc.)
Repairs and Modifications, (DIN) Do-It-Now
Provide support for scheduled/emergency/unscheduled repairs or upgrades of production equipment.
When On-Call support is required, to cover non-regular working hours to be available and able to report for work within one hour of the call-in notice. It is their responsibility to report fit to work and not be impaired in any manner.
Is responsible for keeping current with daily repairs using logbooks and the feedback of departmental shift supervisors and/or with equipment operators.
Daily manages/maintains information: DIN work orders, logbook feedback, e-mail feedback, and TO-DO task lists.
Assess equipment operations on a regular basis to detect operational issues, faults, or failures and to take appropriate actions for correction.
ReportsIs responsible for providing requested reports to the Technical Manager in a timely manner and/or updating tasks in programs such as:
Preventative Maintenance program.
Engineering ST-Chart (TO-DO assignment list).
Health & Safety and Integrated Management System
Is responsible to maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and following PDT-Bridgewater Health & Safety policies and procedures. The ultimate goal, by maintaining a safe working environment, is to avoid personal injuries, damage to equipment, and to provide a pleasant and safe working environment.
Is responsible for ensuring machines and related equipment is maintained and safe for employee use. Makes modifications to equipment and/or machinery to meet specified tolerances for its proper safe operation.
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas. (Incorporating 6S principals to improve department organization).
Is responsible for safeguarding all confidential information.
