What this job involves:

As an Industrial Engineering Planner at JLL, you will be an energetic team member with a background in industrial engineering (or closely related field) working on industrial, logistics, and manufacturing projects in our Houston office while being self-motivated and capable of working with minimal supervision. You'll collaborate with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to support critical projects through hands-on learning and real-world problem-solving, contributing to manufacturing and industrial engineering initiatives across portfolios. This role helps develop operational solutions engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain projects that eliminate wastefulness, reduce costs, maintain quality standards, improve profitability, and create a safe working environment while developing data driven solutions to identify bottlenecks and streamline capacity planning.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Develop data driven solutions to identify bottlenecks and streamline capacity planning while performing value stream analysis, sequence of steps, or other process documentation formats
  • Develop balanced process flows utilizing lean principles and perform spatial analysis for material requirements and material presentation to assembly operations
  • Collaborate with engineers to develop product blueprints and equipment drawings while working closely with production employees to understand pain points for process improvement efforts
  • Investigate and implement other manufacturing processes for efficient production and assist teams in designing solutions to enhance production efficiency
  • Create and refine floor layouts to optimize machine placement and space utilization utilizing CAD software
  • Assist production management with compliance of health and safety requirements while validating equipment specifications to meet product requirements and engineering standards
  • Analyze and prepare reports on project timelines, KPIs, and execution progress for leadership review while performing revision to CAD drawings as needed
  • Develop and execute project specific goals, schedules, budgets, strategy, and detailed assumptions with methodology for accomplishing and managing project objectives

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or closely related field
  • 5+ years in similar role
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD software
  • Strong technical writing skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Ability to serve multiple clients at any given time
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Microsoft Project with ability to develop complex project schedules
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, planning, and time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with executive level internal & external clients
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with ability to communicate professionally at all times across diverse functional teams
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to draw conclusions and determine strategies based upon data

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MES and ERP knowledge
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • Quick learner with ability to adapt to new skills
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and value stream mapping
  • Experience with capacity planning and production control coordination
  • Knowledge of quality, delivery, and cost optimization strategies
  • Understanding of manufacturing capabilities and limitations calculation
  • Experience with productivity improvement and lead-time reduction initiatives
  • Adaptability to work in JLL or client's preferred project management software solutions
