Job Description

The Team:

The Mattel Pennsylvania Distribution Center (PADC) is a fast paced, high volume, multi-shift and multi-location distribution center that handles B2B and DTC operations with two different technological systems.

The Opportunity:

The Industrial Engineer & Project Manager will play a key role in ensuring the future capability of our Distribution Center by leading various projects as the primary Project Manager. This position will collaborate closely with the Distribution Center (DC) leadership and be accountable for delivering projects on time and within budget. These projects will support the growth of Mattel Creations and American Girl (including retail) and assist the North America Distribution Network as needed.

As a champion of continuous improvement, the Industrial Engineer & Project Manager will be instrumental in driving Mattel’s logistics operations forward. They will embody our core values, thrive in the Mattel culture, and bring a solid background in both supply chain processes and project management.

In addition to managing projects, this role will lead key teams such as maintenance, training, and safety, driving alignment with operational objectives and ensuring that these functions contribute to the overall success of our distribution center operations.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and influence skills, enabling them to build effective relationships and foster collaboration across various teams within the DC network. They will be key in driving collaboration, execution, and innovation across the organization.

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment and partner with DC Leadership in establishing current and future standards and procedures.
  • Drive and foster culture transformation aligned with Mattel culture and values.
  • Lead projects from requirement definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, implementation plans, and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate internal Mattel and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule and budget.
  • Collaborate and Influence with: a) other Mattel areas such as (but not limited), Distribution Centers across the network, Transportation Inbound and Outbound, Customer Service, Commercial, AG Retail, EH&S, Finance, Logistics Continuous Improvement, Human Resources, Procurement, Legal, AG Retail, Internal Audit; and b) external partners, such as: customers, carriers, vendors, IT solutions, Consultants, External Audit.
  • Analyze project status and, if necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project requirements can be met.
  • Drive continuous improvement culture identifying root cause analysis and corrective actions on project status and risks, based on facts and data.
  • Execute against project financial budget including capital expenses.
  • Analyze and propose solutions to project obstacles (layout, space needs and utilization, equipment needs, capital expense projects, major process changes).
  • Embrace network standard procedures, metrics and best practices.
  • Collaborate with corporate partners and other Mattel DC’s to ensure internal and external compliance requirements are met.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • BA/ BS preferably in Industrial Engineering, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field and five or more years of experience in a distribution center or manufacturing facility as part of operations leadership or project management OR equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Professional certification in project management such as PMP or PRINCE2 preferred.
  • Able to forecast and plan budget, develop and implement business and project plans and goals.
  • Able to collaborate with employees at all levels (supervisory staff, management, executive staff, corporate partners).
  • Strong knowledge in Supply Chain Management.
  • Skilled at creating and maintaining functional and cross-functional partnerships.
  • Able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal form
