Industrial Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

Lead Industrial Engineering and Continuous Improvement activities that drive results in Cost, Quality, Safety, and Delivery.  Develop and implement ways to improve efficiency, eliminate waste and defects, as well as improve Fan Experience.

 

GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Process Optimization: Analyze existing processes within distribution centers and manufacturing facilities to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Use various tools and techniques such as time and motion studies, process flow mapping, and statistical analysis to streamline workflows and enhance productivity.  Lead continuous improvement initiatives such as lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen to drive ongoing enhancements in efficiency and performance.
• Project Management: Lead cross-functional projects aimed at improving Total Cost to Fulfill or Manufacture a product, reducing costs, or implementing new technologies. Develop project plans, establish timelines and milestones, define resources, and oversee the execution of initiatives from conception to completion.   Engage regularly with Operations and Supply Chain technology teams on the status of current projects as well as the ROI and prioritization of new projects.
• Warehouse Layout and Design: They design and optimize warehouse layouts to maximize space utilization, minimize travel time, and improve material flow, which includes determining the most efficient locations for storage racks, conveyor systems, picking stations, and other value-added equipment.
• Storage Management: Develop strategies for storage management, including forecasting inventory levels, bin utilization, slow moving inventory identification, and consolidation opportunities. 
• Automation and Technology Integration: With the rise of automation and robotics in e-commerce fulfillment centers, industrial engineers play a crucial role in the selection, implementation, and integration of advanced technologies. They evaluate the feasibility of automation solutions, assess their impact on operations, and oversee their deployment.
• Workforce Planning and Training: Involved in workforce planning activities, including determining staffing levels, job design, and skill requirements. Partner with Learning and Development on training programs to ensure that warehouse and manufacturing personnel are proficient in their roles and capable of utilizing technologies effectively.
• Quality Control: Implement quality control measures to maintain product quality standards and reduce defects in distribution and manufacturing processes. 
• Data Analysis and Decision Support: Leverage data analytics and modeling techniques to support decision-making processes within operations. Generate insights from data, identify trends and patterns, and provide recommendations for process optimization.
• Health and Safety: Ensuring a safe working environment is paramount in distribution and manufacturing operations. Industrial engineers develop and implement processes with safety in mind and conduct proactive and reactive ergonomic risk assessments.
• Change Agent: Lead the way when it comes to rolling out changes to the Operations organization.   Document the current state, the action plan, explain the “why”, implement the future state, and track progress and learnings for that change.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• BS in Industrial Engineering or related field
• Minimum of 1-2 Years of degree applicable experience      ( Coop and Internships included )
• PMP certification is preferred

  GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• AutoCAD proficient 
• Simulation software ( Simio, Arena, FlexSim, MiniTab ... )
• Fluent in Microsoft Applications ( Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Project )
• General understanding of Lean and Six Sigma principles
• Familiarity with a range of fulfillment and manufacturing software applications. 
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills, including the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated project management exposure leading department or building level initiatives.
• Ability to provide recommendations with the use of data in a dynamic and complex environment.
