We are seeking an Indirect Tax Analyst with experience, technical knowledge, continuous improvement mindset and communication skills to join the Relativity Tax Team. The highly motivated candidate will be responsible for ensuring efficient operations for Relativity by optimizing processes, data analysis and technology. This position will work closely with Tax, Accounting,Sales, IT, Legal, Tax Jurisdictions and External Providers. 

Your Role In Action

  • Review/prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual indirect tax returns, including but not limited to sales & use tax returns, GST returns, VAT returns, and business license returns. 
  • Research jurisdictional notices and communicate status of notices. 
  • Assist with indirect tax audits and other controversy matters. 
  • Assist with state and local tax registrations and possible VDA filings. 
  • Manage the indirect tax calendar to ensure timely filing of all required returns. 
  • Assist with the administration of Avalara, including monitoring of rate and tax law changes, setup of new products or services, exemption certificate maintenance, and monthly rate updates. 
  • Assist with indirect GL tax account reconciliations. 
  • Support indirect tax special projects as needed. 
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of business operations and apply business knowledge in tax analysis. 
  • Work with Legal to review customer contract language to ensure compliance with the various indirect tax regulations. 
  • Work proactively to serve as a key liaison between numerous functional teams to advise managers and internal partners on the technical requirements related to indirect tax matters. 
  • Assist with the design, implementation, execution and maintenance of tax processes and controls as it relates to Relativity’s indirect tax requirements. 
  • Responsible for monitoring, research, analysis, documentation, and timely communication of effective tax conclusions to indirect tax technical questions and tax law changes. 

Your Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; Advanced degree in accounting and/or tax (MST, LLM) is a plus 
  • 1 - 3 years of relevant experience required, either in-house with U.S. multinational corporation or in public accounting preferred. 
  • Strong reconciliation experience is a plus. 
  • Excellent research and analytical skills with the ability to make recommendations to manager and follow-up as required. 
  • Must be proactive in communicating status of compliance process, due dates and planning for future filings. 
  • Must be able to clearly convey tax explanations, recommendations, or alternatives regarding sales and use tax transactions to tax and non-tax personnel in both a verbal and written manner. 
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and assist others. 
  • Strong knowledge of Excel required. 
  • Knowledge of or experience with Avalara, Intact, and Salesforce is a plus. 

Compensation

  • Relativity is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices.  
  • This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus target of 10%, and long-term incentives. The expected salary range for this role is between $58,000 and $70,000. The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
