Job Summary:

The Institute for Materials and Manufacturing Research (IMR) is the gateway to Ohio State's materials-allied research enterprise. IMR supports a community of multidisciplinary researchers, capabilities, focus groups and centers that eliminate traditional discipline-driven boundaries at the research level. IMR provides seed funding, infrastructure support and development, management of major research facilities, faculty recruitment, promotion of industry partnerships, educational and outreach programs and strategic leadership.

The IMR Business Assistant provides a broad range of administrative and fiscal support services for IMR’s Facilities and Labs. This position will report to the IMR Business Operations Manager with administrative and fiscal matters such as:

  • Using Workday system to initiate high volume purchases, tracking purchases after initiation to ensure accurate completion;

  • Initiating p-card purchases and filing documentation for p-card manager;

  • Maintaining office equipment and inventory of office supplies;

  • Maintaining building common areas, serving as the point of contact managing the front desk; assisting students, guests and staff as needed.

  • Acing as initial contact for all new users at facilities and maintains our user database; assisting with invoice process, including usage data collection, initial invoice creation and receipting of payments.

  • Serving as the liaison for any building issues.

IMR is seeking a proactive, self-motivated and resourceful individual to fill their Business Assistant vacancy. A successful candidate should have excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills, be detailed oriented, apply judgement to connect information beyond the transaction within limits, and have the ability to independently prioritize tasks.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 1 year of relevant experience required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with Workday and a fundamental understanding of database and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of University policies, rules and regulations.

Additional Information:

The Target Hourly Hiring Range for this position is $18.17 - $23.90. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the candidate's relevant work experience and qualifications, and the unit's available budget, which is the primary determining factor.

The work location for this position is Columbus, Ohio. This position is on campus and parking is free on site.
