About this role

As the Illinois Operations Lead for Waymark, you will serve as the leader of Waymark’s operations within the state, with responsibility for delivering on operational, clinical, and financial goals and performance.  You are an experienced operator who has built patient-facing care teams delivering excellence in service while providing quality care.  You are passionate about using a metrics-driven approach and continuous process improvement to help ensure that our patient-facing teams meet the highest standards of care access, coordination, and quality for patients with Medicaid benefits in local communities. You will collaborate with national care support teams including Clinical, Care Model & Quality, Product, Analytics, Partnerships, and Talent Acquisition to represent market needs and challenges and deliver on goals and performance. You will also engage with local providers, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders to build relationships to help support the health and social needs of Waymark patients.

Responsibilities

  • Own the operational, clinical, and financial results for the state.
  • Hire, train, manage, and develop community-based care teams in specific geographic areas within the state.
  • Set and track performance goals, reporting on operational performance within your market and adapt market activities to maximize impact against patient access, cost, and quality metrics.
  • Partner with the Clinical and Care Model & Quality teams to streamline, refine, and deploy clinical and non-clinical workflows used by the care teams to assist patients with Medicaid benefits, and work to optimize the impact of those activities.
  • Partner with the Partnerships and Implementation teams to successfully launch new contracts in the state in conjunction with partner expectations and timelines.
  • Develop and manage provider and community-based organization networks, collaborating with local partners to identify relationships and resources to enhance support of Waymark patients.

Minimum qualifications

10+ years of experience in healthcare or health services operations roles with an outpatient/primary care, integrated behavioral health, and/or whole-person care focus.

  • 5+ years of experience in people leadership roles, building and supervising multidisciplinary patient-facing care teams across multiple locations.
  • Both strategic and operationally oriented, constantly focused on driving performance excellence and improvement but also constantly seeking ways to innovate and grow. 
  • Experience building and managing a P&L.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong prioritization and decision-making skills, with a proven track record of leadership with cultural and personal humility.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with local payers, providers, and community-based organizations
  • Ability to travel across the state to help establish new teams and support existing teams and provide on the ground service to stakeholders in the community.

Preferred qualifications 

  • Deep history of relationships in community organizing, hiring, training, and retaining employees in patient-facing roles in the region.
  • Strong understanding of barriers to healthcare access and quality among diverse, underserved populations.
  • Experience working in startup environments and enjoys rapid pace of work.
