New hires are typically brought into the organization between $35.00 - $37.00/hour, based on experience and education. Location & Schedule

In this position you can expect to work on site and will report to a centralized location. Parking is provided.

This position supports light commercial and residential HVAC systems across Public Safety facilities, including fire stations, Fire Headquarters, and police substations. Team members report to a central location and use a City vehicle to travel to assigned sites for scheduled maintenance, corrective repairs, and emergency service calls.

• Shift: Monday–Friday 7:30 am–3:30 pm

• Participation in snow duty removal is mandatory October-May, details will be discussed in interview

The Department of General Services, Facilities Management Division (FM) is responsible for facility maintenance and management, including preventative maintenance, work order processing and reporting, vendor management and capital planning. FM works behind the scenes to ensure the city’s departments and agencies can function at their best. The FM Division staff is responsible for providing a full range of building services including plumbing, heating/cooling, electrical, painting, and maintenance of doors, windows, walls, ceilings, floors, among other services. Through seven teams, FM is responsible for maintaining over 8,000,000 million square feet of buildings and structures in over 140 city-owned and leased facilities, sites and structures. The Facilities Management Division (FM) within General Services is seeking a task‑oriented, highly skilled HVAC Mechanic I to join Team B, supporting Public Safety Facilities. This role provides essential services for Denver Fire Department stations and Denver Police substations, which are occupied 24/7. We are seeking an individual who genuinely enjoys troubleshooting challenges across a wide range of environments. The person selected for this role will become part of a world‑class team that supports agencies and facilities throughout the City and County of Denver.

As an HVAC Mechanic, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing facility systems. This includes using automated control systems to manage electrical and mechanical building systems. You will handle daily operations and preventative maintenance on mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems, such as air handling units, domestic cool and hot water systems, sump and sewage systems, diesel generators, and fire protection systems.

In addition, as the HVAC Mechanic you will:

• Installs, maintains, and repairs equipment and machinery which may include some fabrication

• Inspects buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning systems and conditions

• Assists with installation and modification of building equipment systems

• Oversees or performs repair, testing, and troubleshooting of building equipment systems

• Evaluates and recommends equipment and service upgrades

• Assists in coordinating maintenance efforts with outside contractors and technicians for contracted work

• Orders parts and supplies as required and maintains stock and inventory control
