Located in Danville, KY, the historic, picturesque 150-acre campus is 30 miles from Lexington, in the famed Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky.
The Maintenance Team Leader is responsible for overseeing HVAC maintenance and repair operations across campus. This position supports and collaborates with the Maintenance Superintendent in planning, coordinating, and supervising work assignments while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. The Maintenance Team Leader also assists in training, mentoring, and evaluating team members and assumes leadership responsibilities in the superintendent’s absence.
Essential Job Functions:
· Evaluate and troubleshoot HVAC systems to determine maintenance and repair needs.
· Plan and prioritize daily work in coordination with the Maintenance Superintendent.
· Provide technical support and guidance to team members; inspect completed work for quality and compliance.
· Assist in the onboarding, training, and orientation of new team members.
· Monitor and operate the campus-wide Building Automation Management System (BAS).
· Support the planning and delivery of regular safety meetings and initiatives.
· Serve as acting Maintenance Superintendent when needed.
· Participate in the department’s on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as required.
· Enforce and follow all safety regulations and college policies.
· Demonstrate an appreciate for and sensitivity to a diverse academic community, fostering an inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff from a variety of social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
· Maintain reliable availability during inclement weather and campus emergencies, as Facilities personnel are considered essential staff.
· Perform other related duties to contribute to the department’s success, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma required.
· Journeyman or Master HVAC license required.
· Post-secondary coursework or training in HVAC systems, maintenance, or repair preferred.
· Valid certification or license in CFC (Chlorofluorocarbon handling), electrical, or similar trade required.
· Significant hands-on experience with HVAC systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
· Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role in a facilities or maintenance environment preferred.
· Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, and working familiarity with plumbing and electrical systems.
· Ability to assess, diagnose, and resolve technical issues.
· Effective leadership and team coordination skills.
· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and BAS preferred.

· Ability to perform manual labor over extended periods, including standing
