The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is responsible for the health and safety of all citizens and visitors to the state. As a public health agency, the Florida Department of Health must monitor the health status of Floridians, diagnose, and investigate health problems, and mobilize local communities to address health-related issues. The Florida Department of Health develops policies and plans that support health goals, enforce laws and regulations that protect the health of all residents and visitors, and link people to needed health care services. The Florida Department of Health also provides specialized assistance to pregnant women, infants, and children with special health care needs, regulates health care practitioners, and provides medical disability determinations.

 

Human Services Program Analyst (Surveillance Coordinator):

This position performs public health surveillance in the control and prevention of Tuberculosis (TB). It calls for a mature and responsible individual able to plan and conduct a program to improve health outcomes and / or key program indicators. The surveillance Coordinator works independently and reports to the TB program Manager. The primary duties are to receive coordinate, monitor, and report public health surveillance activities. The Surveillance Coordinator follows established Federal, State and local laws and Department of Health (DOH) Policies and Procedures.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Surveillance Coordinator is responsible to receive, track and report on the status of all referrals received by the TB Center.

Referrals arrive from community providers, laboratories, hospitals, concerned citizens, statewide and national reporting systems (e.g., Interjurisdictional Notifications, Electronic Disease Notification (EDN) vie CDC Secure Access Management Services (SAMS)).

Develops on-going communications with health care providers Coordinates with hospitals and other health care providers.

ensuring appropriate and timely referrals of persons suspected or diagnosed with TB in the county. Reviews each referral for reporting delays and makes recommendations for improvement.
