General Statement of Job

The Human Resources Talent and Learning Coach assists the Talent and Learning Manager and the Office of Human Resources to implement professional development initiatives and academies for staff. The Talent and Learning Coach is responsible for the development, facilitation, and timely completion of professional and organizational development activities, academies, and trainings, and works to align the training and development initiatives with the College's goals and objectives.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinates the college wide professional development trainings for employees on best practices in the workplace and supports in the compliance and tracking of state and federal statutes.
  • Develops, implements, coordinates, organizes, conducts, evaluates, and provides outreach and advisement for education and training for employees, such as but not limited to mandatory trainings, online trainings, onboarding trainings, time management trainings, supervisory development trainings, teambuilding trainings, organizational development, and other trainings as requested by College's departments, offices, or work units.
  • Develops and distributes educational and training materials, including brochures, posters, training manuals and web-based materials, such as but not limited to, diversity, inclusion, equal opportunity, non-discrimination, accessibility, and the prevention of sexual misconduct.
  • Leads and facilitates face-to-face and/or online professional development academies and training for employees.
  • Provides support to Talent and Learning Manager in evaluating and analyzing trending needs for training applicable to faculty and staff.
  • Assists in identifying professional development topics for South Texas College employees and also identifies relevant outside speakers for keynotes and other events.
  • Travels throughout the college district, as needed.
  • Must have access to a remote working site that is safe and free from interruptions, and equipment and a reliable Internet connection sufficient to perform job duties remotely as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Experience in organizing, leading, and facilitating events and/or trainings required.
  • Experience in a higher education institution, preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and internet research skills.
  • Maintains familiarity with the College's programs, policies, procedures and academic standards.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete multiple tasks with attention to detail, within stated deadlines.
