Position Overview:

The Department of Juvenile Justice is seeking a motivated, independent, and experienced individual to carry out day to day Human Resources tasks within their assigned facility. The incumbent in this position will serve as the main point of contact within their assigned facility and will assist general office staff on a variety of Human Resources aspects such as: creating and posting vacancies, scheduling and conducting interviews, compiling bid records, ensuring a smooth onboarding process for new hires, submitting required background investigations, completing required documents, and compiling packets for transactions, leaves, and benefits. The ideal candidate for this position will be patient, adaptable, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. We encourage all interested and qualified individuals to apply!

Essential Functions:

  • Serves as point of contact for Human Resources related inquires and requests: Answers staff questions and or concerns.
  • Serves as Group Insurance Preparer (GIP).
  • Serves as Worker's Compensation Coordinator preparing and distributing documentation.
  • Keyboards and submits forms required for background investigations.
  •  Serves as State Employee's Retirement System SERS coordinator at facility.
  • Provides advice and interpretation and instruction to staff as to Human Resources.
  •  Maintains files of employee job descriptions, keyboards CMS 104 job descriptions, provides input and information to assist supervisors in establishing and clarifying job descriptions, and serves as facility Rutan file coordinator.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college and one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.

 

Preferred Qualifications: (In Order of Significance)

  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in Human Resources within a state or local government agency.
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with the Personnel Code, Rules, Position Classification Plan, and Pay Plan.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience using electronic hiring processes within Success Factors or an equivalent software program.
