Summary:
The internship position is primarily responsible for learning and job-shadowing within the Human Resources & Communications Department. It may include understanding the scope of the various other departments within the company. Internships consist of learning and understanding tasks within the assigned area(s) and may include components of learning how each department interacts with other parts of the business. Administrative internships may include functionalities from marketing, human resources, financial, and other aspects of the business. The goal of the intern is to deepen technical knowledge, grow understanding of industry practices, and gain valuable professional work experience.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
Train and job-shadow with staff
Learn techniques and functionalities of the various departments within the organization
Speak with multiple other departments and gain understanding of workflows and business needs in the company
Support onboarding and orientation programs for new employees
Maintain files and generate status information, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Problem definition, research, data collection, and introductory analysis to determine best processes and methods for problem-solving
Input, format, and update a variety of projects and reports
Learn the importance of standard operating procedures and regulations
Contribute to creating HR reports and presentations
Assist in drafting and distributing internal communications such as newsletters, announcements, and updates
Support the planning and execution of company events, team-building activities, and employee recognition programs
Help maintain and update the company's intranet and communication platforms
Monitor and analyze feedback from employee engagement initiatives to suggest improvements
Maintain professional and technical knowledge
Participate in organizing and promoting training and development sessions
May present project information at the culmination of the internship to communicate research, findings, analysis, and any recommendations
May work with other departments/interns to gather content and create engaging materials for employees
Additional duties as assigned
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an academic institution in good standing with a focus on Human Resources, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field
Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects under deadline pressure
Strong organizational and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
High attention to detail and data entry accuracy is required
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting on a chair, working at a desk and working on a computer and/or telephone
Pay Rate:
The base compensation range for this role is $19.00 hour
