Our mills in Rumford, Maine and Biron Wisconsin are integrated paper & pulp facilities, and our mill in Fairmont, West Virginia is one of only three in the world that produces air-dried, recycled pulp. The HR Business Partner position is responsible for aligning business objectives with management, union representatives, and employees in all business units. The position serves as a consultant to management on human resource-related issues. The successful HR Business Partner assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and communicates needs proactively with VP & General Manager and HR Director and seeks to develop integrated solutions through collaboration. The HR Business Partner formulates key partnerships across the organization to deliver value-added services to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization. The HR Business Partner will work under the direction of the Director, Human Resources. This is a full-time salaried position. The hours of the position will be 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
Job Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work
- Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations
- Provides day-to-day human performance guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions)
- Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention
- Provides HR policy and CBA guidance and interpretation throughout organization
- Identifies training needs for business units
- Assists with recruiting, hiring and on-boarding of staff
- Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory and CBA compliance. Consults with the other resources as needed/required.
- Establish and support consistent work standards, rules and regulations (safety rules), and provide consistent and fair treatment to ensure company compliance with governmental policies and laws including FMLA, ADA, EEOC, Minimum Wage, OSHA
- Work beyond normal work schedule as necessary to fulfill position responsibilities
- Carry out other responsibilities related to position as required.

Required Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of three to five to years of experience resolving complex employee relations issues
- Bachelor’s degree and relevant industry experience preferred
