Job Summary
The HR Business Partner (HRBP) I is responsible for supporting and assisting the Senior HRBP with initiatives and functions that drive UMGCs strategic business objectives. The position will work closely with all HR centers of excellence, be a primary point of contact for employee inquiries, will support HR administrations day-to-day operations and will work on additional projects as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Champions UMGC’s mission, articulation of performance priorities and communication of information up, down, and across the organization. Supports UMGC in ensuring a positive work environment that reflects UMGC core values.
- Participate in aligning HR strategy to business strategy. Assist Senior HRBP with the design and implementation of work-force assessment and planning, organizational effectiveness, learning and development and talent management. This includes assisting the Senior HRBP in executing talent initiatives and realignments that are supported by business priorities and goals in order to ensure organizational readiness.
- Assist Senior HRBP and Employee Relations Managers with providing day-to-day HR guidance to employees and departmental management.
- Assist in addressing questions/concerns related to the HR Centers of Excellence, such as Talent Acquisition, HRIS, Employee Relations, Compensation and Benefits, Organizational Training and Development and other areas.
- Assists Senior HRBP in annual budget planning/labor/workforce forecasting/planning process.
- Demonstrate a full understanding of UMGC/USM/ Federal/State policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance to HR requests and inquires.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree with a minimum of one (1) years of HR experience with at least six months of experience working in an organization utilizing the HR Business Partner model. Must have experience in facilitating HR related events, such as meetings, team building sessions, and ad-hoc training.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven ability to communicate professionally and effectively to entry level employees up to senior leadership. Critical thinking skills and a willingness to learn various aspects of HR. Ability to multi-task and pivot in a rapidly changing environment. Strong partnership with the HR team, recognizing when it’s appropriate to escalate issues as needed.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Master's degree and two (2) or more years of HR Business Partner experience. Experience in change management and project management, while working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
