The Human Resources Business Partner supports and enhances HR operations in both the local facility and Canadian teams, serving as a key resource for employees, managers, and applicants. This role builds on foundational HR responsibilities by contributing to talent development, employee relations, and process improvement initiatives. While maintaining core administrative and compliance duties, the HRBP also collaborates with leadership to support workforce planning, employee engagement, and training efforts. This position plays a vital role in ensuring consistent HR practices by collaborating with other HR colleagues globally and ensuring a positive employee experience.

CORE JOB DUTIES

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a primary contact for HR-related inquiries, including policy, payroll, and workplace concerns.
  • Manage investigations and resolution of employee relations issues, escalating complex matters as needed.
  • Recommend and collaborate with local and global HR team on policy improvements.

Compensation, HRIS, Benefits and Leaves of Absence

  • Maintain accurate employee data in HRIS and ensure timely updates.
  • Conduct bi-weekly payroll audits and coordinate corrections with the payroll team.
  • Assist employees with onboarding and benefits enrollment, partnering with the corporate benefits team.
  • Manage workers’ compensation and leave of absence cases, ensuring compliance and timely follow-up.
  • Strategy discussions with leadership on leaves, workers compensation and compensation trends to ensure employee retention and process improvement.

Communication and Local Engagement

  • Lead and recommend employee communications through various channels (email, newsletters, meetings).
  • Lead and recommend local engagement initiatives, including wellness and recreation activities.
  • Participate in the Safety Committee and manage Workers’ Compensation claims as appropriate.

Talent Development & Training

  • Collaborate with local leaders to support talent development conversations and identify training needs.
  • Recommend and implement training programs related to performance reviews, leadership development, and career growth.
  • Manage training activities and driving engagement with leaders to support various HR related activities, to include but not limited to compensation, employee relations, talent acquisition and workforce planning, and employee development.

Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  • Coordinate recruitment efforts for local operations roles, including job posting, screening, and interview scheduling.
  • Partner with hiring managers and the Talent Acquisition team to support headcount planning and candidate selection.

Onboarding & Offboarding

  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including HRIS updates and first/last day activities.
  • Ensure smooth transitions and positive experiences for new hires and departing employees.
  • Analysis of both metrics and process improvement opportunities to include managing any changes to ensure successful employee experience

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE JOB

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field required.
  • 5 years of progressive HR experience.
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong ability to build trusting relationships with both leadership and employees supported.
