Hospital - Surgery Scheduler

The Surgery Scheduler schedules all surgical procedures and ensures that all necessary clinical and insurance coding information is collected in a hospital environment.  Receives requests to schedule procedures from physician offices and schedules the procedure according to established guidelines.  Provides accurate information so that all departments may view daily, and maintains open communication with hospital departments and physician offices regarding schedule changes.

• Schedules surgeries based on physician volume maintaining appropriate standard turn-around times. 
• Identifies scheduling barriers and implements solutions to improve scheduling results based on predetermined goals. 
• Remains knowledgeable of physicians schedules at all times ensures surgeries procedures are scheduled in conjunction with their schedules. 
• Demonstrates courtesy and helpfulness toward patients and their families. 
• Recognizes and responds appropriately to urgent/emergent situations per protocols. 
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and management. 
• Follows established hospital best-practices and procedures in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment. 
• Adheres to policies regarding safety, confidentiality and HIPPA guidelines. 
• Verifies insurance benefits of patients and obtains referral authorizations as required. 
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:

• High school diploma/GED required

Certification/Licensure:

• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, within 7 days of hire.
