Job Description:HORTICUTURAL ASSISTANT IN THE NUTRIENT ECO-MANAGEMENT LAB
OPS positions, available January 22 through August 31, 2025
Job Description
• Work closely with and timely report to the faculty advisor.
• Growing plants in the high tunnel, greenhouses on campus, or field in Hastings or other locations
• Collecting and organizing soil and plant tissue samples from field or tunnel trials for chemical analysis
• Harvesting blackberries, green beans, and potatoes
• Other assignments
Starts at $13, an hour, commensurate with experience
Minimum Requirements:- Ability to lift approximately 30 lbs.
- Able to work in hot and humid outdoor/greenhouse environments
- Valid Florida driver’s license is required. The candidate may travel to other locations, which requires driving a vehicle.
- Ability to understand, follow, and carry out repetitive operations with minimal supervision
- Experience with plants and soils, greenhouse or nursery experience is ideal
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including few hours during weekends and potential emergency situations
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and execute work assignments
