The Work You Will Do:

Highway Maintenance Technician II

 

This position will help conduct routine maintenance on roads and bridges and engage in manual labor related to job assignments, including tree trimming and the assembly and erection of highway signs.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

Upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional permit or license; operates a variety of vehicles and mechanized equipment to include backhoe, tractors with attachments, crew cabs, and dump truck. Performs pre-trip inspection/minor maintenance on vehicles/equipment that they are operating. Cleans and washes equipment.

Uses a variety of hand, pneumatic, and electrical tools to maintain bridges and roadways. Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments at an intermediate level of complexity with minimal supervision.

Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs.

Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of:

  • Typical construction measuring tools, equipment, or other instruments and standard safety techniques.

Skills in:

  • Operating a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Operate and perform pre-trip inspection/minor maintenance on vehicles and/or mechanized equipment that they are operating.

Ability to:

  • Read and understand job related materials and fill out reports and forms.
