Job Title: Heavy Maintenance Technician
Department: Property Maintenance Technician

Status: FT Year Round Hourly

Reporting To: Maintenance Manager


Position Overview:


The Heavy Maintenance Technician is a licensed trades professional (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or similar) responsible for major repairs, system diagnostics, and technical troubleshooting across Powder Mountain resort properties. This role supports critical systems, responds to complex issues, and mentors junior staff as needed.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform complex repairs on mechanical, HVAC, electrical, and life safety systems
  • Lead diagnostics and replacement of key infrastructure components
  • Ensure all work complies with building code and safety regulations
  • Document repairs and maintain accurate service records
  • Serve as on-call specialist for escalated system failures
  • Assist with capital improvement projects and contractor oversight

Requirements and/or Qualifications:

  • Active state-issued trade license (e.g., Journeyman Electrician, HVAC Certification)
  • 5+ years in commercial/resort maintenance or construction
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical plans and schematics
  • Effective communicator with ability to lead tasks and collaborate with coordinators

Physical Requirements: Must be able to perform physical activities such as, but not limited to:

  • Full range of body movements 
  • Reach, push, pull, lift, and carry objects that may be heavy (50lbs) 
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and twisting 
  • Must have command of senses – sight, hearing, touch, and smell 
  • Vision requirements – close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception 
  • Walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain 
  • Climb/descend stairs/ladders 
  • Manual dexterity to operate manual tools and power equipment on a constant basis 
  • Safely handle hazardous materials
