Hillcrest Hospital’s Progressive Care Unit offers hemodynamic monitoring, continuous respiratory care, pharmacologic interventions, and step-down open-heart, thoracic and cardiovascular services to diverse populations of young adult, adult and geriatric patients. As Health Unit Coordinator (HUC), you will offer unparalleled customer service to patients, families and visitors to enhance the Cleveland Clinic experience. Using your administrative and clerical skills, you will ensure an efficient operational flow of the department, allowing your fellow caregivers to continue providing optimal patient care.
A caregiver in this position works evenings, from 2:30pm—11:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Conduct an in-person greeting, welcome and orientation to the unit for newly admitted and transferred patients.
Respond to patient call lights and make rounds.
Assist with processing patient admissions, transfers and discharges.
Assist patients and families with wayfinding and direct them to available resources.
Assemble and maintain patient medical records and other documents related to patient care.
Assist with unit clerical functions and in trouble-shooting equipment failures, such as call system, portable phones, WOWs and other unit devices.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
One year of experience in a customer service-related role
Experience with typing, computer training or equivalent coursework
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
College degree
Microsoft Office experience
