This Head of Network Architecture & Engineering will be responsible for managing the global low latency trading & corporate networks. This will include ensuring a resilient, diverse network to global stock exchanges, Instinet Colocation & Data Centre sites, branch offices and our end-clients that enables consistent low microsecond access.

The job will suit a confident, enthusiastic and flexible character who possesses strong technical and communication skills and good organisational capabilities; a patient individual who is able to demonstrate independent initiative within the work environment, yet be a highly cooperative ‘team-player’. 

Provide technical guidance to other members of the team or peers and oversee operational teams.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be the Subject Matter Expert for network level technical support for a global voice and data network.
  • Provide technical expertise on network connectivity through the Internet, private, and High Frequency Trading networks for client and application connectivity.
  • Design and implement best of breed network and security-based solutions as part of a global team.
  • Manage and provide update reports on project delivery.
  • Ability to handle numerous separate projects concurrently.
  • Fault investigation, data analysis and solution implementation.
  • Maintain relationships with third party vendors, providing network connectivity and hardware provision.
  • Provide a professional and courteous service at all times as a representative Instinet Infrastructure Group.
  • Identify and analyse fault calls using all the resources available in a timely manner, ensuring all new information corresponding to problems is documented.
  • Manage call tracking to promptly meet defined Service Level Agreements. This also involves updating tracking systems with appropriate updates and communicating them to the relevant people or groups.
  • Work on planned strategic migration and hardware refresh projects.

 

SKILLS ASSESSMENT

  • Experience of Cisco and Arista routing and L2/L3 switches, and Checkpoint Firewall technologies, including the configuration and troubleshooting across different hardware platforms
  • Experience with QoS, IPSec VPN.
  • Experience in Exchange ULL COLO network setup.
