Job Description Summary:

Under limited supervision, this role supports the coordination of Recreation programs and services and provides leadership and direction for non-regular staff to provide high quality facilities and programs for the Boulder community. Performs related duties as required, with a focus on Master Plan initiatives, inclusion, and diversity to enhance our community’s wellbeing.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Creates, implements, and coordinates a variety of Recreation programs, services and/or special events. 

  • Organizes and submits recreation guide and website information including loading and creating marketing materials. 

  • Works directly with marketing and communications staff to ensure marketing materials, website, and social media sites are updated with accurate information. 

  • Fosters and develops principled relationships with community partners and organizations to grow and market current and future programs. 

  • Researches and evaluates program offerings to meet best practices and utilize the service delivery model to make recommendations and align programs with the Master Plan. 

  • Facilitates and manages contracts with outside vendors, instructors, contractors and other external groups. 

  • Hires, trains, schedulse, supervises, and evaluates staff and volunteers. 

  • Conducts regular staff meetings and in-service trainings. 

  • Develops quality training programs for staff and volunteers. 

  • Develops and mentor volunteers and staff to ensure quality instruction and leadership. 

  • Performs front-line responsibilities and backfill for absent employees as needed to support programming. 

  • Enforces safety standards and ensure facilities and equipment are safe through conducting regular inspections. 

  • Works with maintenance staff to ensure all preventative maintenance occurs on a regular basis. 

  • Maintains staff certification records to ensure patron safety including CPR, First Aid, AED Training, and various required certifications. 

  • Trains staff, volunteers, and interns in emergency and risk management procedures.   

  • Reviews and maintains online and in-person trainings through the City of Boulder as required in Workday.  

  • Complies with State of Colorado licensing requirements when necessary. 

  • Updates information on the City weather-line and website as needed. 

  • Secures facility space for programs and contractual agreements as needed. 

  • Oversees front desk, pro shop and/or concession sales. 

  • Transportation of children is required for some Program Supervisors.
