JOB SUMMARY:
When working on the Grounds at the Delta Center, you have the opportunity to contribute to the cleanliness, beauty and attraction of downtown Salt Lake City. Our grounds maintenance team is responsible to perform a variety of duties to maintain the high standards of the arena and surrounding properties. Daily tasks can include; pruning, pesticide application, blowing, mowing, trimming, planting, weeding, garbage pickup, watering, fertilizing, digging, raking, irrigation system maintenance, installing Christmas lights, leaf and snow removal. You must be able to work with a crew in all weather conditions and be able to operate essential equipment such as mowers, trimmers, utility carts, weed eaters, plows, lifts, etc. We also specialize in event cleanup and assisting with other departments as needed. $20-$24 per hour
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Safely operate lawn mowers, weed eaters, sprayers, tractors, blowers, etc.
- Daily cleanup around the arena and surrounding properties
- Safely apply pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers
- Turf maintenance
- Irrigation system maintenance and repairs
- Identify weeds and other desirable plant material
- Ability to interact well with the public, customers and fellow employees
- High attention to detail and be able to identify problems
- Prioritize safety and the practices necessary to maintain a safe work environment

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have 2-4 years of Landscape and Grounds Experience
- Must have 2-4 Years of higher education in an applicable field
- Must be able to work outside in seasonal weather
- Often required to work long hours and be available when needed or as business requires (including events, holidays, nights and weekends)
- Must be able to lift up to 75-100 pounds
- Must have a current driver's license
- Moderate to high levels of stress may be associated with this position
- Must have a clean driving record and pass a background check.
- This person must be able to communicate and express themselves in English
- This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate and assess
- Must be 18 years of age
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- This person must be able to communicate and express themselves both written and verbally
- This person must be able to observe, inspect, estimate, and assess
- This person must be able to sit, stand, bend, walk, and climb stairs for long periods of time
- This person must be able to lift 50 lbs
