Purpose of the Position

The Graphics Production Supervisor leads the graphics team in preparing and producing all necessary graphics for our ecommerce site. This role sets and ensures quality standards, identifies, and implements workflow improvements, and manages product photography assets and equipment updates. Collaboration with Technical Marketers and Marketing Managers is essential to achieve desired outcomes. The role relies on experience, judgment, and standard operating procedures to plan and accomplish goals.

Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:

• Leads the graphics team in the preparation and production of all graphics and layouts necessary to support our ecommerce site and product documentation as well as other marketing deliverables, as needed, to meet business needs. Creates and ensures proper usage of all website templates.

• Directly supervise the Graphic Artists in the development of products and services.

• Reviews design work of graphics personnel and provides feedback and mentorship to ensure consistency of design.

• Enables and ensures all Graphic Designers remain up to date on production standards and contribute to production needs, providing feedback on production-related performance.

• Works closely with Marketing Managers to achieve desired outcomes, addressing quality issues or template inconsistencies.

• Performs and reviews quality control processes ensuring:

  1. All new images are tagged correctly before being archived.
  2. All photos on the web adhere to color correction standards.
  3. All photos for web are named correctly and uploaded to the correct location.
  4. All product photos are taken at the correct angle from both sides.
  5. Keeps abreast of new programs, updates to current programs, and new camera/lighting equipment advances, seeking approval for upgrades when deemed appropriate.

* Identifies opportunities to enhance the productivity and efficiency of the graphics team while simultaneously improving the overall quality of our web graphics. Evaluates potential modifications to processes that could optimize workflow and productivity.

* Contributes to the formulation of the preliminary annual budget and oversees expenditures to ensure compliance with established limits.

* Provides training to current personnel on the utilization of new programs and conducts retraining when skill gaps are recognized. Designs and facilitates training sessions focused on skill enhancement.

Requirements

Experience:

• 5+ years of graphics experience in a production environment.

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in graphic design or a related field or equivalent work experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

• Advanced mastery of the Adobe Suite of Programs

• Able to conceptualize and design project scope through to final project.

• Strong art portfolio, demonstrating expertise in graphic design for various marketing collateral.

• Strong oral and written communication.

• Strong interpersonal skills for working in a team environment.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to self-review work for accuracy and brand adherence.

• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced team environment, multitask, be detail oriented

• Demonstrated work ethic, ownership, and accountability; ability to individually drive initiatives.

• Strong project management skills to deliver successful outcomes on time and within budget

The estimated pay range for this role is $66,930 - $83,665 annually
