Find your superpower with the Graduate Development Program

National Grid’s Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we’ll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one – putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.

Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you’ll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.

Group Function Rotations

Graduates in our People team will take part in a 12-month exploration. Your first 6 months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following a broadening 6-month placement designed to provide you with a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. This placement will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.

About the Position

As an Associate Specialist, HR Centre of Expertise you will be an integral part of the teams that support our most vital asset: our people. In this role you will start your career with rotations across various HR teams (Performance and Development, HR Business Partners, Performance Management, and more) and learn how we support our people at all stages of their career and drive performance for National as a whole. This is a perfect role for someone passionate about starting a career in HR!

 

This is a hybrid role that can be based in Waltham, Massachusetts, Brooklyn, New York or Syracuse, New York.

What You’ll Do

As an Associate Specialist you will have a key role in supporting the success of our workforce.  

 

 In this role you will:  

 

  • Work collaboratively across the different HR Centers of Excellence. (Employee relations, talent management, reward, recruiting strategy, and professional development)  

  • Assist in developing HR related strategy.  

  • Support the collection, organization, and analyzation of HR related data.  

  • Facilitate workshops and present information to senior leadership. 

  • Translate information to be digestible across teams.  

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree from an accredited institution    
  • Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025   
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does
