JOB SUMMARY

The Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer assists with the day-to-day management of the athletics’ sports medicine operation, which requires some night and weekend work. Candidates for the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer should possess a commitment to Christian higher education, utilize servant leadership style of leadership.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND REQRUIED DUTIES OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role):

  • Prevention and care of athletic injury and illnesses
  • Provide coverage at home athletic events, practices, and designated away events
  • Evaluation of athletic injuries
  • Communication of information between the sports medicine team, coaches, student athletes and parents
  • Education and counseling for student athletes regarding their injury/illness
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and record keeping.
  • Maintain the system of daily records of assessments, treatments, and rehabilitation on all athletes with guaranteed confidentiality according to FERPA, HIPPA, and others that apply.
  • Oversee the monitoring and care of the athletics training room, equipment, and inventory housed there.
  • Coordinate NAIA Drug Education policies and procedures with staff and student-athletes
  • Other duties as assigned

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Board of Certification (BOC) certified (Required for exemption)
  • Eligible for state of Arizona licensure
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Current certification in first aid, CPR, and AED
