Nielsen’s key differentiator in the marketplace is directly collecting consumer behavior data to power our products.Leveraging our data in combination with partner and vendor data delivers best in class measurement both now and long term. Evolving privacy regulations combined with a complex digital ecosystem require an increased focus on respondent consent to fuel or products.
However, our focus and investment in data collection and partnerships is fragmented and uncoordinated across the company. This lack of access to the right data signals has caused us to fall behind and has created gaps in our product offerings that our competitors are exploiting (e.g.advanced audiences, streaming).
Nielsen is seeking a laser focused function responsible for the company’s data strategy to enhance, evolve and protect our unique market value. The Global Data Strategy Leader is responsible for monitoring, articulating and executing Nielsen’s holistic data strategy globally ensuring accountability from our data partners and relevancy of our data assets inarapidly changing ecosystem.
Goal: Deliver clear strategic plan and coordinated execution of a company-wide data monitoring, collection and acquisition strategy.
Objectives: *Deliver clarity on current coverage and data assets globally (owned, licensed, partnered) *Create shared plan and vision for data strategy across Nielsen*Executeon vision for key Nielsen components including surveys and identity
Key Outcomes & Accountabilities:
Monitoring & Data Health *Deliver total market measurement coverage report including readouts by productline, that can be leveraged for marketing, competitive analysis and relevancy assessments*Create scorecard of partner/vendor data health that can be leveraged for negotiations, quality escalation points, product impacts *Monitor & deliver semi-annual report identifying disruptive technologies in the consumer data collection space *Develop and maintain generalized data dependency inventory to identify and monitor which products rely on various data partners to be leveraged in contract renegotiations, partnership exits and data change notifications
Data Strategy*Identify data licenses not providing sufficient value to renegotiate and/or eliminate *Develop 5 year resilient plan for Nielsen Identity Engine&Survey solutions and/or the evolution of our Identity and Consent strategy*Lead transformation of current survey and behavioral data assets with a focus on consent to evolve our company to a future-proofstate. *Identify partners/solutions to fill critical coverage gaps*Creating a cohesive "competitive intelligence"data practice that covers Nielsen’s products and markets
Execution *Collaborate closely with procurement and strategic partnerships teams on identification, agreements and renewal of vendor and partner contracts and data negotiations with a focus on a)enhancing coverage and b) value and extensibility across Nielsen *Partner withTechnology, Privacy and Security to develop a data exchange strategy and execution plan *Work with Industry Standards team to create guidelines for Nielsen data granularity and access paths *Partner with keystakeholders - Product, DataScience, Technology, Privacy & Security, Legal, Operations, Partnerships, Finance, M&A to achieve objectives.

Requirements:

  • Intimate understanding of Nielsen data sources,vendors and products globally
  • Knowledge of Nielsen Identity framework and publisher Integrations
  • Knowledge of Nielsen Audience Measurement partner programs-i.e., Google, Roku, TradeDesk
  • Knowledge of Nielsen’s use of data assets including surveys, panels and census sources
  • Strategic vision to devise plans where Nielsen does not own media assets directly
  • Global media market dynamics (i.e., privacy, media channels, adtech, ad models)
  • Demand side workflows and key investment decision points
  • Marketers’ experience &/or perception of Nielsen including competitive data sources and products: relevance, quality, usefulness & value
  • Knowledge of the privacy and security landscape changes and ability to link these to Nielsen products
  • Effective collaborator with functional partners and team.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute a plan
  • Proven track record of achieving objectives and delivering results in a timely manner.
  • Business acumen and an understanding of business challenge
