General Manintenance Lead - 1st Shift - Oglethorpe Hatchery

Job Details:
Attends to Maintenance calls throughout the hatchery and hatchery premises.
· Coordinates and leads maintenance renovation/repair projects with participating parties to minimize negative impacts on production and or hatchery operations.
· Schedules and Tracks, ALL Hatchery PMs to ensure they are performed per schedule.
· Maintains parts room inventory to ensure sufficient supplies to maintain hatchery operation.
· Closely monitors inventory as well as communicating with maintenance department to ensure items are properly recorded when used and maintain proper inventory accounting balance.
· Personally, participates and writes work order task assignments for other hatchery maintenance TMs to ensure both PMs and general repairs are carried out in the designated times.
· Inspecting and verifying completion of work order task assignments issued to maintenance TMs.
· Maintaining communication with Hatchery management of All maintenance department’s concerns such as delays in receiving product supplies, scheduling special projects, personnel deficiencies (not completing assigned task etc)
· Ensures that the Maintenance Work Permit (MWP) program is followed properly by all Maintenance TMs.
· Performs repairs to equipment and the facility itself as needed.
· Assign repairs to Maintenance TMs by assessing the repair and skill set required.
· Proactively search out potential problems or abnormalities with equipment and addressing accordingly to prevent equipment failures, production downtime and product loss.
· Completes performance evaluations on equipment throughout the hatchery and uses the evaluations to adjust maintain equipment functionality.
· Performs predictive and preventive maintenance on equipment to minimize and eliminate downtime.
· Leads (with or without Supervisor) in Root Cause Analysis to identify and repair Root Causes of equipment failure to prevent repeated failures.
· Orders parts and materials to maintain proper inventories of maintenance shop as well as items necessary for special projects.
· Troubleshoots problems with equipment to determine actual cause of failure ensuring that the right repair is made the first time.
· Creates notifications through SAP to obtain parts for repair and modification.
· Enters time worked and parts used into SAP through the work order system.
· Monitors Mechanics to ensure that their time and parts are entered into SAP daily.
· Participates in a pre-shift safety meeting to discuss topics related to the scheduled work for the day or safety concerns within the facility. Maintenance Leads are expected to lead this meeting in the absence of a supervisor for whatever reason.
· Perform a daily walkthrough of the hatchery and its premises to inspect current maintenance task assignments as well as searching for new abnormalities that need maintenance attention.
· Perform repairs as needed throughout the hatchery and its premises.
· Assist others with repairs.
· Assign repairs and projects to Maintenance TMs as needed.
· Perform Hatchery PMs as well as assign to Maintenance team.
· Create and assign work orders as well as follow up of completions.
· TM cannot posses or be around birds.
· Communicate daily with Manager/Supervisor and Maintenance team with updates to task assignments as well as any newly identified concerns.
· Become and maintain respirator certification, boiler certification, as well as all other trainings pertinent to performing maintenance responsibilities at the hatchery.
· Must participate in after hours and weekends maintenance on-call.
· Must be able and willing to work other shifts when the need arises.
· All other duties as assigned by Management.
This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by insuring the Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing all equipment and company assets while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
