Job Purpose and Impact

The General Manager will oversee the management of the daily operations of vessel agent activities and ensure operations managers and boarding agents meet customer, vendor, government and other regulatory agencies business requirements for vessel operations with crew, cargo and other needs for the organization. In this role, you will provide fiduciary oversight and fiscal responsibilities including annual budgets, expense management, customer accounts receivable and accurate and timely invoicing. You will guard and drive compliance with internal and external regulations and be responsible to ensure performance and service expectations are met. You will also develop and foster relationships with business partners, transportation leaders, independent contractors and vendors.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead and manage across a multi business corporation, to increase customer satisfaction, market share and provide a safe and profitable business.
  • Ensure operation and accounting activities meet defined customer requirements and measurements for each vessel.
  • Drive the company culture and communicate awareness to the agency business that instills the strategic intent, policies and ideals of the corporation and manifests engagement, growth and opportunity for each employee in the agency business.
  • Develop and implement marketing plans and grow customer base as well as maintain vendor relationships to obtain services at optimal performance and pricing levels.
  • Provide proactive and timely communication across the group, business unit and global organization.
  • Represent the company at association meetings to maintain and grow a presence within the industry.
  • Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Three years of supervisory experience
  • Minimum of ten years of experience working in fleet operations, brokerage or in a leadership position
