Following an internal promotion, an extraordinary opportunity awaits for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and self-driven General Manager to join the magical underwater world of SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth! Imagine leading a team in a vibrant environment filled with glistening scales, razor-sharp teeth, and awe-inspiring marine life.

 

What Makes This Role Extra Special?This year promises to be an unforgettable one for SEA LIFE Great Yarmouth. A brand-new ocean tank—set to be completed in April—will give you the opportunity to attract waves of excited visitors eager to experience our latest attraction. Additionally, you’ll have the chance to oversee exciting capex projects, shaping the future of our site and leaving a lasting legacy.

 

You’ll also step into a pivotal role within the Great Yarmouth tourism board, a space where our current GM has built a strong presence. Your involvement will position SEA LIFE as a cornerstone of the local tourism scene. Plus, you’ll take the reins of our local trade programme, driving visitation from holidaymakers while managing key contracts like our observation wheel and kiosk agreements.

 

What You’ll Do:

• Inspire & Innovate: Lead annual marketing and events strategies to attract visitors, leveraging new features like the ocean tank to generate buzz and excitement.
• Grow & Thrive: Explore innovative commercial opportunities in retail, food & beverage, and photography, while developing revenue streams and delivering on financial goals.
• Lead & Connect: Strengthen partnerships with local businesses, media contacts, and government organizations to ensure SEA LIFE remains a must-visit attraction.
• Nurture & Protect: Collaborate with our Aquarium Curator and animal care team to ensure top-notch care for our aquatic residents.

Qualifications & Experience

We’re seeking someone who:

• Brings substantial senior management experience from a multi-functional commercial business.
• Has a natural talent for networking and relationship building.
• Thrives on creating unforgettable guest experiences and managing a diverse range of stakeholders.
• Possesses strong commercial and financial acumen paired with a creative and entrepreneurial mindset.
• Demonstrates excellent communication and motivational skills.
• Is safety-focused and skilled in operational management, including budget oversight and procedural improvements.
