The Role

The Plant Operations Custodial Manager reports to the Manager of Plant Operations and will provide leadership & direction to all Custodial Supervisors, janitors and cleaners. This position manages the Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery of all cleaning, janitorial, and material recycling services. The manager is responsible to ensure all services are performed in compliance to all local, state, and federal regulations. This position also provides support to our emergency response organization and powerhouse operations team (Spill, Radeon, Fire, etc.) as requested.

The Custodial Manager is required to develop an effective teaming relationship within Plant Operations while maintaining sound customer relations across the entire shipyard. Candidate shall have the technical knowledge to support his/her direct reports in troubleshooting and resolving problems. The Manager needs to be able to multitask, direct a staff and interact with various levels of management and customers. The Manager should possess strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the confidence and motivation needed to be a team leader.

Additional areas of responsibility include and are not limited to:

  • Responsible for all aspects of providing janitorial services such as general office cleaning, restroom cleaning, carpet shampooing and vacuuming, tile floor stripping and buffing.
  • Responsible for providing 2nd and 3rd shift 046 emergency response services which include but are not limited to spill response and Radeon drill support as requested.
  • Responsible for ensuring all employees are qualified to perform their assigned job functions by identifying and scheduling required training for their employees.
  • Responsible for maintaining records related to inspections, maintenance, personnel records, and budget.
  • Responsible for the adherence and administration of all NNS Policies and Procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all facilities and systems are maintained in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for building strong customer relationships.
  • Duties include cost management of indirect & direct budgets, tactical planning, and labor resource planning.
  • Duties also include implementing process improvement across area of responsibility.
  • Duties also include succession planning including training, development and coaching of all team members.
  • On call 24/7 including weekends and holidays.
  • Responsible for overseeing the Material Recyclying Facility and Spill Response Team

 

Supervises, assigns, coordinates and evaluates semi-skilled and skilled trades personnel according to their skill, experience and job knowledge. Supervises and trains employees to improve quality and quantity of work performed. Recommends training to enhance skill and productivity of employees, and assists in development of training procedures. Breaks broad strategies down to practical action plans and ensures employees are trained to perform these plans. Responsible for complying with all technical aspects of the job including adherence to all drawings, procedures, etc. Responsible for manufacturing, installation, operation, testing, and process operations that have a significant financial impact on the company's performance. Supervises qualified trades staff; monitoring job and budget performance for all shifts.

Must Have

BS/Apprentice + 4 years production supervisor experience OR Non-BS/Non-Apprentice with 6 years combined production supervisory experience and/or CS experience.
