About the Role:
As General Counsel at Symmetry, you will join our growing team to meet the expanding needs of our company and our clients. In this role, you will be advising and working collaboratively with our sales, marketing, product engineering, and business teams to support our strategic direction and growth in the areas of legal, compliance, security, and privacy. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Serve as a senior advisor to help Symmetry navigate complex regulatory frameworks to design and mature Symmetry’s global products.
- Look around corners, creatively solve problems, and help define business strategies as Symmetry expands its product functionality to meet the needs of its Clients.
- Counsel the product engineering, design, and business teams as you help them navigate a range of topics related to our products and/or partnerships, including customer security and confidentiality and data privacy.
- Help navigate regulatory landscapes that impact Symmetry’s existing and future products.
- Advise on and oversee all commercial contracts, including business development and partnership deals, all deals with vendors, marketing agreements, etc., helping Symmetry ascertain the right amount of risk while supporting the company’s continued business and growth.
- Participate in Symmetry’s Deal Desk, advising on deal strategy and commercial contract structures and enable data-driven approaches to predict sales trends.
- Contribute to the development of scalable processes to manage legal risk and accelerate product expansion.
Here’s what we're looking for:
- 15+ years of broad legal experience gained in relevant organizations and industries, preferably with a public company and/or a private company that has scaled successfully with at least 1,000 employees. Experience working in a technology company is also preferred.
- Experience overseeing and negotiating commercial contracts.
- Experience enabling a robust Deal Desk, including collaboration with Sales team members to create and propagate successful, creative commercial deal terms, improving contracting outcomes and enabling consistent deal structures to meet customers’ needs.
- Experience overseeing regulatory compliance, privacy and data protection programs with a proven ability to spot trends, challenge the status quo, think outside the box, and creatively solve problems taking into account legal risk and business needs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex legal and compliance concepts in a clear, concise, and practical manner.
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow through in a fast-paced environment.
- A team player mindset (no job is too big or too small).
- A collaborative approach and demonstrated ability to work well under pressure, cross-functionally, and independently.
Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $182,000 - $224,000/year in Scottsdale & most major metro locations. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.
Symmetry has a physical office space in Scottsdale. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role).
When approved to work from a location other than the office, a secure, reliable, and consistent internet connection is required.
