Main Purpose of the Role:

To ensure principles of accounting are being applied to the financial information of the organization timely and accurately

Main Tasks:

• Handles daily accounting tasks such as journal entries, corrections, invoice processing and PO creation.
• P&L reconciliation preparation with initial review of accounting vs budget differences
• Completes required filings for compliance with municipalities
• Assists with the creation of Purchase Orders, GL coding support and posting confirmations 
• Prepares supporting schedules for audit & tax filings (quarterly and yearly)
• Completes bank reconciliation preparation including review of aged outstanding checks
• Supports budgeting and forecasting efforts (agency and region) under supervision
• Assists with financial reporting and compliance by creating and analyzing system reports
• Posting of fixed assets, Lease Schedules and monthly depreciation 
• General Intercompany postings versus other agencies
• Manual upload of Demurrage and Detention Revenue
• Manual Posting of Demurrage refund through commercial consideration

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) in Accounting from a four-year college or university.

• 1 to 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft applications. Advanced proficiency in Excel is preferred

• Deadline Orientated; Ability to efficiently plan and prioritize tasks based on urgency.

• Intermediate proficiency in data analysis and interpretation of data trends
