This position is designated as a hybrid working position with a need to report to central administration offices, institutions, or institution visits as needed.

About the Job – Your Role

The purpose of this position is to provide care and custody of adults in custody (AIC)s, while providing central office oversight and management of a robust program dedicated to assessing, managing, and monitoring the needs, safety risks and concerns of transgender, intersex and non-binary AICs. Position chairs a multi-disciplinary team to address individualized needs of the transgender, intersex, and non-binary AICs. Position chairs a health services committee to address gender affirming care needs for AICs with Gender Dysphoria.  Position works closely with Department of Justice and represents ODOC in legal actions.

This position is management services and may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of experience or education equivalent to seven years of experience that typically supports the knowledge and skill requirements listed for the classification.

OR

A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a degree related to the agency program that demonstrates the capacity for the knowledge and skills; AND four years’ experience coordinating or administering a program.

Requested Skills

  • This position has a demanding workload with a high level of responsibility, it requires strong ethical leadership, critical thinking skills, resiliency, and the ability to work independently and with multiple, multidisciplinary teams. Along with this, the employee must possess strong verbal and writing skills and be able to effectively communicate with a wide variety of people. The position requires the ability to establish and maintain harmonious working relationships with staff at all levels in ODOC and stakeholders outside of the agency.

  • Experience with managing a workload in a constantly changing work situation, as well as planning for and resolving complex problems.

  • Experience understanding and implementing policies and procedures.

  • Experience working with gender-diverse individuals.

  • Understanding of some of the adverse experiences that transgender, intersex and non-binary individuals face. 

  • Familiarity with standards for gender affirming health care.

Preference will be given to those with experience in these fields.
