DUTIES:
- Plans, assigns, schedules and directs activities of assigned staff to establish schedules and priorities, to identify and resolve work needs, and to ensure continuity of operations.
- Manages the on-the-job (OJT) training process, including but not limited to new hires, post rotations, promotions and new procedures. Supervises the FTO program, in partnership with respective facility supervision. Makes recommendations regarding OJT and facilitates training to both new and current team members.
- Serves as a liaison with the Staff Training Academy and is a contact for new employees providing leadership and assisting with questions.
- Provides training and support to the facilities as needed.
- Ensures the application of all policies, procedures, post orders, etc., and may participate in the development of these policies.
- Evaluates individual’s performance and evaluates/develops individualized training modules.
- Develops training concepts and techniques specific to job classification; provides technical assistance; coaches and counsels team members.
- Acquire and maintain required instructorships in firearms, self-defense, CPR/First-Aid, and chemical agents. Move and carry equipment and supplies.
Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: High school education plus two years of corrections experience, and experience or training, in leading or supervising other staff. Must be able to legally possess a firearm and ammunition.
Preferred Qualifications: At least three years of training experience to include instructing. At least three years corrections experience.
Other: A valid driver's license is required. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the following pre-employment exams in this order: medical exam, and at a randomly announced time, pass a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program.
