Alarm.com is looking for a user-centric Front-End Software Technical Lead to join our Home Automation Experience team to focus on smart home web applications. We craft customer experiences that make interacting with Internet of Things (IoT) smart home and security devices a breeze!

DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Architect & Coder: Architect and implement full-stack software solutions to complex technical problems using ingenuity and creativity with an emphasis on top-notch end-user experiences for our web apps. Deliver incremental progress on a predictable cadence.
  • Mentor: Serve as a mentor to our growing engineering department via in-person consultations, trainings, and code reviews, in areas for which you are a subject matter expert.
  • Planner: Ensure our team’s architectural roadmap aligns with the company’s product development strategy, even as business needs evolve, by collaborating with Product Management. Build solutions with robustness and risk mitigation in mind.
  • Technical Influencer: Research, evaluate, and apply new technologies and best-practice engineering methodologies and processes across our team.
  • Collaborator: Participate in collaborative meetings to coordinate both short- and long-term activities between business areas.
  • Communicator: Produce technical design documentation and architectural diagrams to facilitate knowledge transfer. Provide clear, audience-relevant, proactive technical communication when consulted.
  • Monitor: Develop test plans in conjunction with Quality Assurance and monitor performance in our Production environment.
  • Change Agent: Identify opportunities for improved efficiency within our code or business processes, propose solutions, and implement your vision with significant autonomy.

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, a related field or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years of relevant professional software development experience
  • Experience leading and mentoring other engineers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with JavaScript or JavaScript web frameworks (e.g. Ember)
  • Experience with CSS and HTML
  • Experience with object-oriented languages (e.g. C#)
  • Experience with JavaScript build tools (e.g. Gulp) and testing frameworks (e.g. Mirage)
  • Experience with package managers (e.g. npm)
  • Exposure to TypeScript
  • Exposure to Web API design
  • Exposure to JSON seriali
